ISO 14001:2015 – FORGE FEDRIGA ADAPTS ITS ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The 2015 edition of the ISO standard 14001, governing Environmental Management Systems, introduced significant changes for Companies that intend to certify as well as for already certified ones. The changes concern the approach to environmental aspects starting from the need for a precise analysis of the context the Company operates in, hence identifying all stakeholders and parties concerned with the Company’s production process. For Forge Fedriga suffice it to mention the vicinity to the Local Intermunicipal Park (PLIS) of Barberino, the river Oglio, the town of Cividate Camuno. From this analysis, the standard imposes methodical identification of the environmental risks and opportunities entailed by these production processes. This leads to implementing precise actions and measures to reduce these risks or enhance the opportunities. In other words, before being undertaken, the environmental aspects of an activity must be thought out and assessed (knowledge of the region we operate in), the risks must be measured (how we may interfere with the environment) or the opportunities (how we can improve the environment) to then establish actions to mitigate the risks (jobs and actions to be implemented). In January 2018 Forge Fedriga certified again its Environmental Management System according to ISO 14001:2015.

PMI DAY – INDUSTRIAMOCI, EIGHTH EDITION NATIONAL SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISE DAY

With the initiative promoted by AIB (Brescia Industrial Association), companies welcome teachers and students to their production facilities, to take a close look at their commitment in society and to witness how their products improve the quality of life. Forge Fedriga has enthusiastically joined this initiative and on the 9th of February, its facility welcomed the 5th year students of the Industrial Technical School of Tassara di Breno (BS). The students, accompanied by their teachers, were able to visit the Company’s production departments and gain first-hand experience on the importance of company Management Systems, including the environmental one. This was an opportunity for significant connection and communication between the world of Work and that of School.

LED LIGHTING FOR THE SHIPMENTS AND TESTING PREMISES OF BERZO INFERIORE

Stemming from the belief that we all need to play our role, however minor, to protect the Environment, Forge Fedriga pursues its commitment to reducing the consumption of resources, which are not endless. Three years after upgrading all lamps to LED technology at all the production departments of Cividate Camuno, which in 2017 led to savings on lighting consumption of 60.7% equal to 122.3 tonnes of CO2, the lighting system of the shipping and testing building of Berzo Inferiore was also upgraded to LED technology. 22 LED projectors of 187 W were installed to replace the existing 440 W ones. Hence the estimated annual energy savings total 57.5%, another drop into the ocean of resource savings.

THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK OF CIVIDATE CAMUNO

The Archaeological Park of the Theatre and Amphitheatre of Cividate Camuno, open since 2003, is a state-owned Institute intended for public enjoyment, set up in order to protect, preserve and foster appreciation of the archaeological remains of the spectacle facilities of the ancient Roman town of Civitas Camunnorum. The Park offers an exceptional glimpse into the ancient town, boasting the remains of an amphitheatre, the perimeter structures of which have been entirely brought back to light, an a theatre, one third of which is visible today. The complex is complemented by a series of structures and service facilities, including a shrine and small baths. The position of the buildings is exceptional, from a landscape as well as functional point of view: leaning against the Barberino hill, the theatre and amphitheatre are supported by the natural slope. The Park covers about 20,000 m2, with gardens featuring shrubs and trees. A small building next to the entrance welcomes visitors and hosts the office of surveillance personnel. The Park represents one of the sensitive features of the landscape and area of the medium Camonica Valley.
